the better field cafe, waterloo street.
popped by for lunch at the betterfield sometime ago, because i saw that they were doing a black angus ribeye lunch set that week.
the cafe was small, simply decorated and quiet. i was slightly intimidated by the lack of patrons (only one table was occupied) but while i was having my lunch more people came in.
i got the 200g black angus ribeye lunch set ($15), which came with an appetizer of sautéed mushrooms and greens. looked plain, but it was actually pretty tasty, and i finished it easily. had the white coffee ($4.50) but found it disappointing- i like my coffee strong and with a kick, and this was perhaps too milky.
my steak came a perfect medium rare, just as i'd requested. it had an awesome char that made eating it an absolute joy. also liked that it was well seasoned- not shy with the salt, but well balanced. didn't even need the truffle mustard.
took a picture of their menu for future reference!
really good for $15. it's available for dinner at $20 i believe, which is still a steal. loved it- will be back.
