was in the CBD area hunting down some lunch; not an easy feat since most places were closed on account of it being good friday. was initially planning on eating at &sons- i've wanted to try the big lunch plates for ages now and i finally had company to share it with, but once again it was not to be. oh well, another time.

anyway, i remembered having the pulled pork bak kut teh wrap at meat and green a while back, and their other stuff looked promising as well. plus, they had the added bonus of actually being open! so we walked over to boat quay.

the place was small- only bar seats inside, so we decided to sit outside. weather was cooling, so it was all good.

decided to get a wrap each and share the epic mac and cheese ($13)- one of the benefits of having company is that... i get to try more stuff.

it felt like quite a wait- but maybe because we were already hungry. the wait was made worth it when the mac and cheese arrived, steaming hot and full of cheesy goodness. look at that cheese! i expected it to be the usual mac and cheese, but it had curry spice in it (same as my wrap, i think). a pretty good surprise. the sauce was brilliant. also liked that it came with beef cubes instead of beef mince, and the beef cubes were tender as well. generous portion- didn't manage to finish it because though it was awesome, it got a bit jelat after a while.

i did manage to finish my beef curry wrap ($12) though. preferred this to the pulled pork bak kut teh wrap ($11) that i had the other time, mainly because of the sauce and the tender beef cubes. the freshness of the vegetables was a good compliment to the heavy sauce and made for a really good eat. made for a messy eat though, thanks to the generosity of the sauce. i was looking for napkins to clean my fingers throughout the meal- there is no glam way to eat this. but it was well worth the mess.

i can see myself coming back just for the beef curry wrap, though the other items do look tempting as well, in particular the lamb vindaloo. like the asian/local spin they have on their salads and wraps- makes for a refreshing change.
