pure pandan, chinatown point.
i've always had a poor impression of pandan cakes, always remembering them to be dry. maybe because i've never had a good one? so when L introduced me to this pandan cake place, i was slightly hesitant at first.it was a small shop in chinatown point, takeaway only. prices are $1.70-$2 for each slice. not cheap for pandan cake, but this was hands down the best version i've ever had.
i got the green tea honey ($1.80) and classic pure pandan ($1.70) at first. then i tried a bite of the green tea honey and the texture won me over so much that i went back and got the banana walnut ($1.80). it was fluffy, moist, fragrant, and best of all, not cloyingly sweet. just as well that i went back for the banana walnut, because my sister ended up liking that one the most. the banana walnut one was like a lighter, fluffier version of banana bread. my favourite was undoubtedly the classic pure pandan. they have a durian one for $2 but that sounded a bit too adventurous for my liking.
changed my impression of pandan cakes. this was worth the price, though steep for the portion.
